Welcome

Welcome to the website for the Tame Valley Park, a new and enhanced open space that will deliver opportunities for walking, cycling, running, and much more on the site of the former Hartshead Power Station and Millbrook Sidings. A planning application was submitted to Tameside Council in late 2021 and this website provides an update and highlights amendments that have now been proposed.

Current Position

Given the strategic location and importance of the site, over 200 public comments were received by the Council when we formally applied for planning permission.  This provided feedback on a range of issues, including concerns about the proposed Community Hub area on the former power station site in terms of meeting needs, its accessibility and the potential for it to become neglected.  It has also been suggested that the Park should maximise opportunities to enhance biodiversity and create better links to open space and footpaths / cycleways – especially the Beeway cycle route along the former railway line – to create more attractive and safer sustainable links between Mossley and Stalybridge.  The project team have therefore taken time to review the comments from the Council, consultees and the wider community and this has led to changes that have now been formally submitted to the Council.  A summary of our revised proposals can be found here and the submitted plans and documents are now open to further feedback and consultation.
